Lecture by David Cowlard

This talk was about architecture, the urban landscape and how people live and interact with their space. Unfortunately I do not have any photos of that evening but for more information perhaps his website will be better: http://www.davidcowlard.com/ Cowlard's talk was split into two, his own work and discussions raised. One of the issues discussed that stuck with me was the process of building and how peoples lives were influenced by the spaces they were in. He mentions a particular visit to Dubai and Abu Dhabi where, as a photographer, he could not believe how bulletin boards placed on sites of development had lies and deceit for visualisations. These images always portray a clear blue sky, brand new empty building with no consideration to the nearby towering buildings that will soon smother this new development. Although lies, these visualisations are effective in selling the design to clients and are often used in a cheating manner.
