Jerwood Space Gallery

An interesting wall mural livens up an empty street with outlines of people.

                                                    Printed aluminium figures

These are the remains of an empty industrial plot in Barcelona that was drilled and hacked to create a contorted surface in order to drive away 60 gypsy families that had taken up residence there.

Video showing various undeveloped sites in Africa.

A very clever device for the trafficlight outside of Southwark Station, it informs pedestrians crossing the street how many seconds they have left to cross the road. This is especially excellent for those that like to take a risk and run across a blinking green man rather than wait the extra few minutes. More of these should be installed!

Failed Lecture

The guest speaker supposed to give a talk today in the Penryn Road Theatre ended up as a no show. What a disappointment.

Illustrator Practice Part 2

Illustrator Practice Part 1

My goal today is to learn how to use illustrator once and for all. Having tried once before and gotten really frustrated with the pen tool just not going where I wanted it to, I had sworn off ever touching it again. It is time to break that promise since I now realise how important it is in creating polished and professional maps and sections. I will attempt to master all the basics by today. These are just images of me getting used to the feel of the tools and applying them.

Trying to create a perfect heart shape by hand and without mirroring the other half is more difficult than it seems!

Initial attempt at re-creating key.

Charity Fundraiser in Bushy Park

This was a fun fundraising event for the Princess Alice Hospice and as I had never been to bushy park before I thought this would be a fantastic way to study the surroundings as I completed the fun run. Even as cold as it was, there were other people visiting the park for horseriding, cycling lessons, boot camp training, dog walking and general jogging.

I wonder what purpose these raised bumps serve in the landscape?

John Pawson- Plain Space

From his drawings to his models, Pawson embodies what I strive to be. Modern, spartan and elegant, his designs are filled with grace and tranquility. Something soothing against the hectic nature of the cities we live in.

Simple yet effective, his solution for connecting the indoors to the outdoors is with a straight line that carries through both areas. I wonder about safety or covenience though, are they able to shut that sliding glass door and lock it?
